Recent years have seen significant advancements in sound repair and enhancement software. Not only have there been improvements in the ability to minimize background noise, it is now possible to target individual elements in an audio recording, either by dedicated algorithms or, when the audio is viewed in 'spectrograph' form, by surgically "painting out" obtrusive sounds manually.
Another advancement in audio repair is a relatively new tool, 'spectral recovery.' Here, high and low frequency bands lost in the transmission of voices over Zoom internet connections or in poor cellphone recordings can be reconstituted to varying degree, aiding in improved fidelity...
As record-capable smartphones have become commonplace, so have digital audio recordings submitted into evidence, both in criminal cases and litigation. Concurrently, with the increased sophistication of readily available audio editing software, the possibility of evidence tampering has become a real concern...

Video from smartphones, CCTV or Ring cameras can be a source of crucial evidence in a crime or dispute. More often than not, the usefulness of such evidence is compromised by low resolution, camera shake, shadows, glare or poor lighting. Given the right software and expertise, each of these problems can be addressed and mitigated, potentially rendering previously unidentifiable facial features or license plate numbers identifiable.
Resolution enhancement involves the generation of new detail using information contained within the video or image. For each available pixel, new information is gathered via the analysis of adjacent pixels and, in the case of video, those from subsequent and earlier frames...
